Envirotec is diligent in ensuring that the liabilities associated with the services it provides are reduced to the greatest extent reasonable. Envirotec's focus is to not only ensure that its interests are protected, but also to ensure that the liabilities inherent to the customer are minimized to the greatest extent possible.
Envirotec believes the first measure of liability protection is accident prevention. Accidents are prevented by stringent compliance with current regulations and standards as well as a corporate culture of safety excellence. As most accidents associated with the industry occur during transport, Envirotec exercises due diligence to ensure that the risks of transportation are reduced by participating in routine maintenance and inspection of vehicles and equipment, strict driver abstract scrutiny, employee medical surveillance, alcohol and drug screening, use of code built transportation equipment and containers, regular personnel training, and strict safety procedures.
Envirotec maintains insurance coverage with Canada's leading insurance firms. Amongst the various types of insurance, Envirotec maintains $5,000,000 in Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) insurance to cover the costs of cleanup of accidental releases of dangerous goods and hazardous wastes during transport. Customers benefit in knowing that the materials entrusted to Envirotec are adequately covered in the event of an environmental incident during transport. For even greater assuredness, Envirotec names the customer as additionally insured under Envirotec's policies.
Under Envirotec's EIL insurance policy, Envirotec takes title of all conforming hazardous waste materials immediately upon loading of such materials onto Envirotec transportation equipment. In other words, Envirotec assumes full care and custody during transportation of hazardous waste materials from the customer's site to the final disposal facility. Title Transfer is detailed under the Standard Terms and Conditions of each Envirotec Service Order.
