We carefully follow special procedures to safeguard against the generation and accumulation of electrostatic energy when handling flammable and combustible liquids. We use intrinsically safe instruments, non-sparking tools, petroleum-rated suction hoses, and flame-resistant personal protective clothing. We follow electrical grounding and bonding techniques and divert flammable vapours away from ignition sources. Procedures and hazardous assessment processes are outlined in a program we call SafeLoad.
